Mechanical work is one of Jaina's great passions, and she doesn't really confine herself to any particular area of work. In canon we see her excited about everything from building a hydroelectric generator to plunk in a river...to building a structure. Her primary love is working on spaceships, and we often get urple narration about how she gets to know and become one with her ships by working on them and feeling all the parts. So...yeah, there's a favorite area to work on that's not available here, but it's hard to rule anything out. If she gets to play with tools, she'll probably enjoy herself.

Specifically here, she's working on getting projects to get a water heater for Iolite's bathtub, and to put a deck on the cabin's roof because Spitfire insists on sleeping up there and Obsidian is a flying dragon that likes to land on the roof and so on (and also since there's no lake to swim in anymore Jaina wants to bask in the sun up there, but she'll never admit it).
