Neji has a very... um... impersonal relationship with people in Aather. Even people from home. He likes some of them, he respects some of them, but the framework he's given himself for dealing with things and coping with the situation is sort of based on ninja teams, and alliances, and it works in a number of ways, but it also means he tends to keep things professional-ish emotionally on his side. Anyway, the point is that he has a system for how to deal with these people, and Hinata would carry a whole lot of family baggage, and one way or the other, would not fit in that system. Plus, there would be how to deal with HER memories. Would she remember fighting beside him and working out their differences, or would she remember him bullying her? BOTH, eventually, obvs, just like he does. But. Yeah. It would be a huge shock to him, and kind of rock how he copes with Aather.
