First impressions of Melon Lord/we should thread more y/y

Sakura thought Melon Lord was pretty awesome! Like she's a little ...serious/sarcastic in a way that can sometimes rub Sakura wrong (Sakura not entirely unlike Katara, sometimes...) but mostly she just appreciated both how confident and how just...solid, she was.

Also she can't wait until she learns more of her own style; martial arts is clearly just such an integral part of Ninja Life that it's been kind of weird for Sakura, adjusting to a place where it's apparently kind of remarkable. She loves finding people who also have it woven into their life. Be my fran, show me your cool moves :B

Toph liked her!! yay cool girls who fight shit!! She's bummed at having to learn things over, but she thought it was cool that Sakura was open to teaching her with adaptations to her personal style. It was a memorable enough interaction that Toph recognized Sakura's style when Alena came over to teach her how to punch things more. \o/ But I think they should be frannns (and if she's like katara, all the more better! Toph is interesting against those types)

Sai. Sai and Yamamoto so we can get the rest of team seven all up ins. Seriously Sai is entirely broken and incapable of Feels when you meet him, he only knows trolling and insults and what he has learned from books. Talks about Naruto's tiny penis a lot. Later gets feelings and teamspirit beaten into him so tries even harder to learn how to frans by checking self help books out of the library. He fights by drawing sumi-e animals and bringing them to life. He is awesome.

Yamamoto is the team captain that takes over for Kakashi; he is Kakashi's junior and is therefore entirely put upon and used to being trolled relentlessly by Kakashi. He is very friendly until you piss him off and then he makes horror-terror face. He was kind of raised in a lab and is the only ninja currently alive who has wood-based powers. Threatens to lock team seven in a cage until they learn to cooperate. Gets drunk and whines about the abuse kakashi puts him through. Also great.

Tsunami on Shark?

She started with this impression that both Shark and Kit were just kind of goofy, nice people to know. Civilians and stuff but very friendly and she liked them! Talking to Shark especially was a good way to perk herself up. Lately though Coral has gotten more... mm, she sees the team as more practical than she did before? Wolf game especially was good for that... sometimes she might feel bad for it but essentially now she can see Shark as someone like-- I need someone to bully me into not just sitting here and throwing myself a pity party. She can remember being good at that herself and it frustrates her that she has a harder time with it, in Aather. In some ways she is pretty sure that makes him stronger than she is '^'

Her Shark goal is to get to the point where she can support him, too.

MUCH BETTER THAN HE HAS BEEN IN AWHILE. He's made some real progress with putting CFUW game behind him-- like, he and Zuko really made up, not just had a firebending duel? So, he feels on much steadier ground... especially since now he has BROTHERLY BOND to tide him over into a more stable mindset. It also helps that I haven't really played him in any of the trauma games that have come up since then, as well.

How about Lightning? I hear you are having sibling issues...

She is...n-not well. She was making progress, but then, well-- Sea Witch and Hook game happen where she gave up all her happy memories. And mostly what that did was really undercut a lot of her own motivations. Itachi was pointing out to Serah that Lightning doesn't even remember the significance of her own name anymore -- that she chose "Lightning" as the name of the person she would be to protect Serah -- so she is...having a really hard time connecting to people, and definitely to forgiving herself for the ways she perceives and sees that she has failed her sister. She is kind of stuck in a loop where she's angry at herself and that anger makes serah sad, and then she's angry at herself for making serah sad and--

I am hoping the last sig neg she got will help with that-- because while it is another dose of "you failed Serah", it's also "you failed Serah because you were too angry to listen to her". So maybe that will motivate her to at least...start improving... or at least ask for a quest to get her lost memories back...which she hasn't even bothered to do yet >->;;

how does Mako feel about Suddenly Brother?

CONFUSED... And a little worry.

Mako's kind of set up to be angry at himself for a lot of the things he does-- some justified, some "why are you even worrying about that, you stupid boy," so his initial reaction to this was to be mad at himself for not connecting the dots. And then, when he thought about it, this completely changed the narrative he'd had for his life. Which, while not something he's really mad at Bolin for, he's pieced together enough to realize that his life was pretty terrible. And it's one thing to have that life for yourself, and not have to worry about others, it's a different thing entirely when that sig neg of parents being murdered legitimately affects more than just you. So he's just like... trying to figure out what his responsibilities are, how he should tell Bolin, and just being mad at himself for something that really isn't his fault.

But Mako's also good at picking up being a big brother, and he has all the information and skills he needs to do it, at least. Barring some sort of Aather craziness, this is the absolute lowest point that they could have on the BROTHERS scale. I expect it to improve from there? And then the only thing I can think of is Mako will go from being moderately okay at letting Bolin have his space, and respecting him as a capable, if irresponsible, fighter, to Mako morphing into THE OLDER BROTHER MONSTER.

Her latest challenge is, as always, Sasuke related!!! All her challenges are Sasuke related I swear gawd. But now she has like...layered and cascading Sasuke challenges. So like quick recap this has been #Sakuralife lately:

But mostly she is...good? Tree seems somewhat slightly less determined to be self destructive since returning, which is immensely a relief to her. She is also glad to see that he doesn't seem to be...ruined forever? By the darkness? YAY TREE. It reminds her that once upon a time Tree was the one she felt like was protecting her and looking after her, rather than the other way around. It is a good reminder for her.

LET'S TRY AN ONYXBRO DIRECTION

ONYXBRO I will all-onyx-bros and also Chariot.

David has just like... an immense amount of dere and respect for Onyx as a whole; I have mentioned before but Onyx's structure is entirely familiar and therefore comforting to David. He doesn't... remember all of the details yet but at home his blood family are all dead and have been for years-- the only family he has now are his four generals who clearly love and support him but are also not cowed by the position he holds are treat him ...well, like family. Telling him when he's wrong and pushing him and flying tackle hug sometimes. Even without details, that level of trust and support from the people working for him is really evident in his memories, so when Onyx hangs out or just kind of convenes around Mal to poke her and converse or make her tiny cakes he is just like yes good.

He just constantly feels kind of at home and solid and good, in Onyx, and also quietly very protective. He sincerely hopes Onyx never gets into an in-fighting sort of situation because he's not sure at this point what he would even do.

Chariot is in a weird place where David simultaneously wants to promise to like...support and protect Chariot because he seems sort of flaily sometimes and feeling like that's patronizing and he has no place to do so, because Chariot is Onyx's older member and, until very recently, David was it's newest. Oh no sempai doesn't need me to protect him '-'

David's obsession with politics and hierarchy aside though, he likes Chariot a lot? He feels like maybe neither of them actually know each other or have at all accurate mental pictures of each other, which did...kind of come up in the mistletoe thread. He is kind of bemused by that but is like THEN I WILL MAKE BETTER EFFORTS TO ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND CHARIOT. Because when they do talk to each other and not just vaguely interact he thinks Chariot is actually pretty clever and charming. And also pretty hot, and the mistletoe kisses were..good. yes.

Possibly awkward in that way where David is not sure what to make of all the kissing he's been doing lately; he hasn't had to inspect that too much yet because he can write 95% of it off as 'for a game' but... wow there has been a lot of kissing and a lot of it he thinks maybe he wouldn't mind doing outside of a game but that makes a working relationship kind of awkward doesn't it '-'

MYSTERY CONFUSING FEELS

Lightning has always liked Battler-- he was kind of gung-ho but not in the way way she remembers annoying her (like...like Snow's gung-ho-ness) and she kind of appreciated that because it wasn't something she was really capable of herself at the time. or...not in the same way. But he was willing to work to fit in and for the betterment of the team and she felt he was worth protecting.

They are friends??? Lightning doesn't really understand how that happened but she also never refutes it and would seek Battler out for things...maybe half because he has told her they are friends so I guess she better act like one??? But he is her memory buddy and honestly she appreciates that for as :)!! as he can be he also understands that sometimes things suck and they don't push each other on feelings.

Battler likes Lightning a lot! She's the type of person he really respects with her no-nonsense attitude and taking care of family, but he also wants to help her with the things she doesn't handle so well, like...memories and feelings? He's also recently had his own memory problems so he's not as fussy about making her take hers since that would be hypocritical, but he does definitely still want to be there to help and support her and maybe one day get her to have some fun '^'

Basically, she's one of his closest and most trusted friends in Aather and he would totally run into traffic or group hugs for her!

Does Lightning have an opinion on Battler's freakout and decision to stop taking memories?

Honestly it makes her kind of :ca because she's like 'well but you need those don't do that to yourself'

which is interesting since he is like... teammate in charge of bullying her into taking memories. But confronting Lightning with her own hypocrisy is absolutely a valid character growth method so she probably will... come to him now being like :c I have memories. I guess I should take them :C alone :C

but that aside, she wouldn't actually push him to take them either, because she does recognize that well. Hypocrite. And sometimes memories suck a lot. And they have a nice 'let's not push each other' understanding.

So tell me of Raven and Battler :>a

Oh boy, Raven and Battler. They've been getting along pretty well right from the time Battler showed up because Raven is weird and acts super helpful and friendly with his love rival? Battler likes Raven since he's pretty much the only person who knows him and has actually been fairly open about what he knows, plus he's a cool fun guy!

More recently there's been a bit of awkwardness, though. First there's the thing where Battler's been making out with Raven's girlfriend and has no idea where to go with that. He's pretty sure Raven knows Beato has a thing for him, but for obvious reasons it hasn't actually come up in conversation, so it just kind of hangs above their heads and they try their hardest to ignore it. Plus in the mistletoe game they actually ended up kissing each other which was incredibly awkward and upsetting because Battler is even more defensive about his heterosexuality than Raven is. Finally, their last talk ended with Battler getting frustrated and annoyed because Raven kept pointing out the flaws in his strategy of not taking memories and obviously just DID NOT GET how terrible his life back home is!!

So yeah, Battler considers the two of them friends, but he's very much aware of all the awkwardness surrounding them and is starting to get fed up with it.

She likes the latest bbturq! He is pretty adorable, but also has seemed very practical and smart when they've spoken? He is engaging and she likes talking to him. She wants to see what skills and memories he gets back because it he makes it sound like it might be interesting...

...I don't remember if she knows he has a connection to Kazuki or not but either way it'd elevate him in ULTRA SUPER SPECIAL I mean okay all of her turqbros are ultra super special but so is Kazuki, so that'd be extra cool.

David's impressions on Ling? I AM CURIOUS

David thinks Ling is a pretty cool person! In their previous interactions he found him charming and likable and...mm, fairly honest? Like, he understands that maybe "you are my favorite knight because I can kind of pleasantly bully you into getting me extra food for favors" could be insulting maybe but David was just like...no I asked if there was anything I could do and you were very upfront about what it was I could do, so... okay then! I accept that and if I didn't like it I shouldn't have asked that way. Mostly it was amusing.

Post their serious conversation though he finds Ling sort of especially fascinating and it...has helped with his overall perception? David has... well, it is not like he doesn't see everyone as individual people, because he does, but he is also really predisposed to roles. There are the Knights and there are the Heroes and we all have to work together as one unit but at the end of the day he is like "they have no particular reason to care about me personally or see me as more as a pleasant means to an end"? He is...really used to "it is my job to look after you and I will because I love you but I don't expect to ever be a significant part of your life on a personal level nor you in mine" >->; Getting to hear Ling's also-a-ruler story was like... Ling is suddenly in his sphere? Or... oh-this-person-is-very-similar-to-me is something David needs to remember.

And Ling is clearly just as on top of being a ruler as David would want him to be (h-he remembers some not-awesome rulers) and is glad that Ling understands needing to take care of that many people as well. And he is smart, and dedicated. And he appreciates that they can disagree and it's not... bad. They can still understand each other. And he appreciates Ling's perspective on dying; I think I mentioned, but David is very attached to the idea of Not Dying, even with his Remnant Trap not an issue, he'd be attached to the idea-- and Ling gave him a really nice, solid way to explain why.

As things are right now David actually really is Ling's favourite knight, or well, more like he's probably the only knight he actually is genuinely interested in. Usually most of his interactions with the knights outside of games are short, because he only approaches them when he needs a quest (which is rarely to begin with). While he doesn't have a bad opinion about them they just don't even register to him, because he rarely has a reason to really interact with them! David left a positive impression when he actually kept his word after Ling told him "hey just bring me food" after sea witch/hook's game-- in the sense that he thought he was a pretty nice and chill person. A thing that he appreciated a lot from the start is that he's actually pretty fun to talk with-- he can take a joke and has just this calm aura about him that makes conversations pleasant. And Ling's a pretty chatty guy, so easy conversations is something he enjoys in Aather.

... And then there was the serious conversation. That was actually one of the very few times Ling had such a serious conversation with anyone, and absolutely the first time he could talk with someone about his feelings on what it means to be a ruler, his ideals and so on. There's also the fact that they didn't necessarily agree on a lot of things, but David made it clear he still understood what he meant and why he felt in a certain way, and so on. Like David appreciated it with Ling, Ling appreciated it with him! And It helped that it was also in the middle of a STORM OF FEELINGS as Ling is still internally struggling with what happened in the seawitch/hook's trauma game.

Honestly he has a really deep admiration for him after their conversation, because while he doesn't understand his situation fully, he admires his dedication to his people and how driven he is. And the reason David contracted with Maleficent was very telling for Ling-- at least, it gave him an idea of how seriously David thinks of his role and the consequences it can have. That's also part of why he told him what are his own thoughts on what it means to die in Aather-- because when David was saying that he wouldn't go against a team's wish if they decide to sacrifice he was like "no wait a minute, that's where you should draw the line".

They may not be close with just this conversation, obviously, but David really did earn a lot of respect from Ling and he's definitely one of the people Ling would be willing to trust. And contrary to what he would do for any other knight, if he ended up in a game with Carnelian Ling would also be willing to listen to him and give his words a certain amount of weight-- because David isn't just Random Knight With Us For A Day to him but just. David! He made a very strong impression on Ling and so he'd be willing to actually show him respect.

... I RAMBLED TOO. I'm curious-- what are Sakura opinions on Personae as a whole?

They have changed a lot over time! She started out fairly neutral and then swung really negative, mostly because of a slew of trauma games and because most of her Personae-info game from Sasuke who is... super not positive on them. And he is not an unbiased source in the least.

She has swung more positive-neutral since learning more about some of them, and since Mal's speech. She's still pretty :\ on the concept but agrees that it's kind of...pointless/frustrating to try and rage against someone who doesn't have free will. Mostly that just leave her frustrated though :\

Canonmate you would really like?

Ran Fan is obviously my most wanted because she is one of the most important people in Ling's life and also because she is amazing. Unfortunately though I don't think she would really have enough memories to be apped unless you use a lot of implied stuff as headcanon memories. But yes I would super love her 8'(

David is pretty much just :?a all over Itachi right now. Previously they got along pretty well? Itachi was quiet but polite and they had nice conversations. David wonders if maybe he overstepped a lot in his conversations while Sasuke was gone, idk... Itachi is just so standoffish lately and it's sort of weird. David is mostly just concerned though, because he does like Itachi and worries maybe he's stressed or that he has offended him '^'a

Sakura is a bit :\ :/ still and aware she's been leaning on Itachi for Sasuke-related things again. feels bad about that because she really does want to have a not-defined-by-sasuke relationship with him /)_(\ also terrified about this upcoming eye thing because ahhh really does not want to hurt Itachi ;;

Lightning... Lightning is not good at anybody right now but the game helped so. I AM SORRY I DROPPED THE FIGHT THREAD but I'm assuming it was cool and made her feel at least a little better. She appreciates that he tries to talk to her about things she is terrible at talkin about but because she is terrible at them she doesn't always know how to respond. :x

DAVID ON SASUKE? :B

Sasuke :B

Like I mentioned to you earlier I think, David just feels super solid and content in Sasuke's presence and just... mentally calm on all things regarding Sasuke. He respects him a lot and trusts him a lot and just kind of... assumes that if he asks Sasuke a question he'll get an answer, kind of thing (I mean, not that he'd abuse that-- he general tries to only ask relevant things and not personal-details things, because that isn't his business). Also um he really enjoys Sasuke's fighting abilities; watching him was cool, getting to actually spar with him is super cool and thrilling and delights David, even when he loses. Even when he loses exceptionally.

Also, while it's not like David hasn't noticed or doesn't appreciate that Sasuke is a very attractive young man, it really is mostly the like... thrill of battle and how competent he is that attracts David most. It's important that David only asked to kiss him after their spar, since that... kind of situation highlights what he likes about Sasuke. He is kind of more disappointed than he thought he'd be that Sasuke is already in a relationship; he hadn't put any thought into wanting a relationship with Sasuke or anything, but he did enjoy kissing with him and would have probably enjoyed further kisses... but knowing Sasuke already has someone means he will... pretty much cease any attempts to be close to Sasuke like that. It's a really good reason they can't kiss and David respects that '^' he wants Sasuke and his mystery boyfriend to be happy...

He is glad that they can still be sparring partners and that things don't seem terribly awkward or different.

Basically, Sasuke has come to see David as someone he can trust with pretty much anything he discovers in Aather. He considers him a reliable and capable person, which is more than he can say about most of the people here because he has weird standards and dislikes people on principle. He also sees David as someone that will potentially offer him a challenge in a fight, and he's thrilling to spar with right now. Sasuke won't recognize most of this, but in a way it's very similar to his relationship with Dino except David is extremely different in a lot of things. Those differences are what made David win points with him easily, after their relationship shifted from those early moments before he joined Onyx.

On the other hand hmm, Sasuke is ignoring and repressing what he felt when they kissed. He obviously wanted it, but at that moment he was so into the frenzy of the spar that he reacted mostly on his own emotions without thinking clearly and so now he is very aware of being attracted to David. He knew he was before, but he acted on it and that's a first for him. And after what happened with Itachi, now Sasuke is repressing whatever he was feeling because he doesn't want to hurt him. Besides, his top priority is Itachi and he made clear that he didn't want to share him. Even in games. So this is going to be interesting now. But Sasuke can act completely normal around David because he's a pro at ignoring is own feelings and that attraction/feeling he was starting to develop is too new and something Sasuke pushed to the back of his mind almost by instinct, so he's not that aware that the attraction is tied to feelings.

SO IN SHORT. Sasuke has a strong opinion on David and he appreciates his existence in Onyx.

How is Sakura doing with Turquoise?

Pretty good, I think. I've been flaky due to busy tired so I have been missing a lot of their ANTICS!!! which is tragic because it sounds magical. But she likes their new Turqbros and the idea that Turq is now a team of nine people makes her kind of unreasonably happy. And Rin and his brother are still out there, too, so! Like... now that Tree is back, Sakura doesn't have any teammates in the book/taken by the darkness. Like obviously Turq as a whole does, but no one Sakura has ever met. It makes her feel super good about Turq. Snuggly family team.

How will Sasuke feel when Kakashi comes back?

honestly though sakura has been doing a lot of fiddly intricate chakra training and stressing out a lot about it so the chance to just let go and destroy some stuff would probably be SUPER AWESOME.

ha ha ha "skill". Josh didn't get anything else that's really useable. :'D Technically if he suddenly needs to fight a regenerator or a god, he now has something that can wound them permanently -- the swords it's made from kill immortals with a single hit in canon -- but it's heavily powercapped in Aather to the point where it barely matters except for style and against enemies that are normally immortal, and I don't really foresee that situation arising. (His base Magic stat also increases but it was high enough anyway that it's kind of hard to tell, and doesn't really give him much in Aather since he's pressed up against the limiter anyway.) Mostly it's just awkward, painful, inconvenient and only useful in unlikely scenarios.

What he does get out of it is unlocking his final skill group, specifically Aether magic, which is a huge jolt of cosmic knowledge and abilities relating thereto. So it's a prerequisite for awesome.

What skills are you excited to get back for Sakura, and/or what are you excited to play with now that she has her current set back?

I am super excited that she has her chakra scalpel skill back and also like unreasonably excited to do Uchiha eye-swapping. That is definitely something I want in my RP life |D I am glad I have the opportunity for it.

Josh is totally oblivious that anything's up with Edmund. >> He's kind of offhandedly aware that if he didn't have Ven then he'd be interested but...he has Ven, and that overrides anything else. If and when he realizes I think mostly what will happen is they'll drape and cuddle a lot more; Josh is pretty uninterested in doing anything sexual without Ven involved (or at least explicitly approving and probably present) and Edmund, as far as I know, is both British and just placing makeouts and stuff lower on his hierarchy of desires. Neither of them have an issue with just enjoying cuddles with someone they care about a lot, though.

Ugh no Lightning is so terrible right now. Giving up her happy memories kind of really took her feet out from under her -- she obviously still had happy Aather memories to draw on for 'good times' feels, but buried in those happy memories she gave up were all her 'Serah is my motivation' feels as well; obviously she is still Serah's sister and still loves her and wants to do the best she can for her, but she's lost the "do the best for Serah above all else"... which... mostly just means she's a lot less likely to fold when Serah tries to talk to her. :c

Whenever she takes her most recent memory, though, that might spur her into actually getting a quest for her memories -- Serah is right in that Lightning hasn't even sought a quest out yet because a)she doesn't really feel she deserves that/she exchanged those memories for Serah's life, and they are still alive, so why should she go demanding them back that's not how and exchange works and b)since she can't remember exactly what she lost she doesn't have any idea how important they are to have. She's just kind of like 'meh happy memories meh'.

But she will get her 21st birthday memory and feel terrible because oh no I yelled and Serah and terrorized her out of the house because my feelings were hurt and I hate admitting when I'm wrong, and then she will be really, really wrong, and she has enough of the other memories back to know what the outcome of her driving Serah away was.

So yes that will...probably at least inspire her to begin moving again, since right now she is standing still and if not content, at least not protesting that stasis.

Haha, Serah is going off in her own direction . . . She got a bad memory that was a gut-punch in itself, but she was also upset that she couldn't lean on Lightning. She wanted Lightning around, because she would have made everything better. Snow did and Noel did, so Lightning can too! But she wasn't there and Serah felt like there was this huge gap between them as far as memories and even emotions go. So, she decided to buck up and try to put herself out there to close that gap! . . . It went so well.

The memory she took with Lightning especially crystallized what the problem was on her end. The Lightning that she remembers is someone else, someone who is much better than the person she is now. Serah can't demand that Lightning be that person as that isn't fair, and she really doesn't know how to make her become that person, either. So, she's stuck in a dead-zone where she doesn't know what to do . . . After talking with Itachi, she has decided to put it on Lightning to find people and places where she can grow and be who she wants to be. Meanwhile, Serah has decided to stop playing nice with Lightning. She knows who she is and what she wants to be; she's said it time and again, so it's up to Lightning to listen and deal with it. Serah was dealing with big things in her memories, and she needs a sister who can help her with that and what she wants to do in Aather . . . Not someone who needs to be treated with gloves on, so she's going to take those gloves off now.

Lightning likes her team '^' They are good people who are mostly quiet and calm and don't set her on edge. Itachi understands her very well and they are close, Battler is I guess her friend somehow she doesn't get it but there it is, Alice and Natsume are surprise-supportive and she is very sure she will protect them... okay she and Bonten are still hilarious failures at communicating with each other but I think they both want to try?? But they are a good solid team and participating in games with them always kind of mellows her out unless they are trauma games which they haven't been, in a while.

How is Serah fitting in on Sterling?

She's doing great. It's hard when she loses people she was really close to, especially Cynthia and Guy, but she has a lot more people to help her out. And she realizes there are always more every day. She was in a tough game with Mithos, and she almost lost it until he helped her out. Somehow, she's in a weird mom/younger-sister role with most of them, I think? She quietly does her own thing, but she does try to keep a bead on most of the knights and nudge them to different means with some of their goals or different ways of seeing a situation. They also teach her a lot too. She gets so much from Lloyd, Tiger, and Thorn.

So, yeah, they are her derpy mostly boy family. She gives them a run for their money, and she keeps them in line if she really has to.
